Since 1944, Frasers Livestock Transport has played a key role in livestock transport across Australia. Family-owned and operated, the business focuses not just on moving stock efficiently, but on doing so responsibly.

Livestock transport involves navigating tight schedules, meeting strict regulatory requirements, and upholding strong standards for animal welfare. The Frasers’ team works across depots, workshops, wash bays, saleyards and on the road in their distinctive Green Kenworth trucks to deliver across a wide range of clients – from family-run operations through to large vertically integrated beef businesses.

“For over 80 years, the people in the business have built a reputation for reliability, trust and service,” said Director Warwick Fraser.

“Those fundamentals remain critical to how we operate. Sustainability, innovation and robust compliance are safeguards to underpinning all of those fundamentals.

According to Warwick, exceeding standards, not just meeting them, is a focus for the team.

“That’s why we have people like Athol Carter in our team.”

Athol Carter has worked at Frasers for nearly a decade. He oversees livestock logistics across Central Queensland and manages compliance systems across the business.

“Athol plays a critical role in helping us stay ahead of industry requirements,” said Warwick.

“He champions critical elements like animal welfare, biosecurity, chain of responsibility, and fatigue management, to name a few,” Warwick said.

Athol sees staff training as a central component of responsible transport.

“Doing the job well starts with equipping our people with the right skills,” Athol said.

“We run practical livestock handling programs tailored to the unique challenges of livestock transport and every year our team undergoes refresher training to ensure we keep ahead of industry standards and aligned with the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework,” Athol said.

“It’s more than just compliance. We train and retrain, year after year.”

“Animal welfare and industry-leading cattle handling practices are central to how we operate,” Warwick said.

“Stock are at the heart of what we do.”

Beyond livestock handling, Frasers has also taken steps to improve biosecurity and reduce environmental impact.

“We’ve retrofitted all our trailers with effluent tanks,” Athol said.

“It’s a practical way to reduce the risk of spills and improve our overall biosecurity practices. It’s part of our commitment to environmental responsibility.” Athol said.

"Our focus is on doing the basics well, being thorough and consistent.

“If we get that right, the rest should look after itself,” he said.

“It’s how we safeguard the efficiency and future of the livestock transport industry and the valuable livestock sector in Australia," Athol emphasised.

“Our approach is simple,” Warwick said.

“Invest in people, use the right equipment and operate responsibly with integrity.

“We’re not just moving stock, we are focusing on doing our part well.”
